When people say... | What kind of world?

Every year, the same question, an accusation for some.

"Do we really need Women's Day?"

Of course, we do. And why not?

So, I've been away and I've been quiet. My friends know why, no need to go back on that.

I am extremely tired and concentrating on my family, focusing my "energy", then I see the news and I want to shout really loud.

This is happening in the UK! I've talked about this before. So for all those who think this Women's day "malarkey" only has a point in undevelopped countries, spare me the stereotypes, open your eyes.

Recently, women at risk were advised to go and sleep in Occupy tents. What?

Anyway, hope I'll be back soon. Love to all

"What kind of a world do we live in where women and children are beaten and funding for services to protect them is being withdrawn? Britain is in danger of returning to the days of Cathy Come Home when the vulnerable were forced to sleep rough. Abused women could find themselves in a dilemma: stay at home and risk being killed or flee with their children to sleep on the streets."

And of course, in the US, you have this:

and that:

???

When did Feminism become insulting?

"The term "feminism" has been twisted, smeared, and degraded over the years. While my generation of Western women have received the benefits of feminism, many of us recoil from the word, as if it was something to be ashamed of. The irony leaves me incredulous, especially when there is still so much more to be done in terms of women's rights on a global scale."

Absolutely, read the rest here:
